Hi, I’m Sara

Welcome to your therapy process! I see the therapist role as a privilege, and I would be honored to facilitate the healing process with you. I am deeply passionate about therapy work because I understand what a place dedicated to healing and growing can bring. With the experience I have gained from my years in the field and my specialized training, I help my individual and couple clients understand the difficulties that bring them to therapy, where these difficulties stem from and heal those wounds so they can make changes to what is needed and resolve the distress.

I intentionally incorporate various therapeutic models to meet my clients' needs. I am trauma-trained, which is essential for most therapy work. Most importantly, I provide a space full of empathy and compassion, which all people deserve in their choice of therapist. I view the therapy process as a collaborative effort, ensuring each client feels supported, cared for, and safe. From this foundation, the therapeutic journey can progress effectively.

My Approach

Over the years, I have attended different trainings and workshops, and I have curated an approach that consciously integrates different therapeutic modalities. I start by attuning to my client's needs, wants, hurts, and pain. I collaborate with my clients to understand what they want from therapy and use IFS, EMDR, CBT, Psychodynamic, EFT, and solution-focused based on their goals and what style works best for them.

EMDR Certified Therapist

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy was a therapy primarily used in cases of post-traumatic stress disorder and is now used as an evidence-based treatment for a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and confidence difficulties, and relationship challenges.

trained in EFT for couples

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an attachment-based therapy modality primarily developed for couples counseling. It can also be used for individual therapy. EFT helps couples have corrective relationship experiences and repair previous hurts. Through this therapy, couples resolve conflict at faster rates, communication improves, and connection deepens.

Other modalities I use:

Although most therapies overlap and are built on similar understandings of the human psyche and behavior, each modality has a specific focus and spin on the work.

  • IFS functions on the basis that we are not just one mind engaging with ourselves and the world but that we have different parts to us. A part that wants to go to the gym, and a part that wants to stay home scrolling on Instagram. IFS helps clients work with their different parts so that their True Self can be in the driver’s seat.

  • CBT focuses on the idea that if you can change your thoughts, you can change your feelings and then your behaviors. I use CBT when helping my clients explore “thinking errors” that may be playing a role in their anxieties or depression.

  • DBT focused on four core skills:

    • Mindfulness

    • Distress Tolerance

    • Emotional Regulation

    • Interpersonal effectiveness

An example of how I use DBT in my practice is by helping my clients hold dialectics- two things being true simultaneously. This can help process many upsetting experiences without getting lost in the story of the experience.

  • Sometimes, clients need brief help with a specific goal they want to attain. This type of therapy helps process the obstacles to the goal, and using your innate strengths helps you reach that goal.

  • Psychodynamic therapy is the modern Freudian therapy. This therapy helps clients understand and process how their lived experiences and their early relationships impact their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

“Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.”
